GROOMING SERVICE

Each furry client is attended by myself from start to end

What makes my grooming salon Pampered Pets different from others??
Why should you try my service even you are happy with your current groomer?
Why are some groomers cheaper then others?
When shopping around for a groomer don't only ask: "How much is the groom?"
You need to ask more important questions like:

What are your credentials?
Are you a certified groomer?
Do you update your education and attend seminars to improve your skills?

Unfortunately everyone who can hold a scissor or a clipper can open a grooming shop without any training or certification! And they run a SHOP rather then a SALON. There is a big difference.
I am a certified groomer with an animal health provider background and I am a breeder for Turkish Angora cats. I attend trade shows to find better equipment and tools which are incorporated in my salon. I attend grooming seminars to improve my services from haircuts to running the business. I do provide high quality while other groomers have high production meaning they see a high number of animals per day.

Please allow me to introduce myself:

After hobby breeding for 13 years and showing and grooming cats and then I went to dog grooming school and graduated from it as best of my class. I have added to my individual grooming service now dog breeds up to 80 pounds. I was a breeder of Turkish Angora cats and I have competed regularly in cat shows. In order to be successful in showing cats, the show cats have to be groomed perfectly!

I also worked as a dental vet technician in Animal Hospitals, cleaning dogs' and cats' teeth, assisted during surgeries etc.

What to expect at Pampered Pets and the grooming services?
First you need to make an appointment for your pet. This appointment reserves a certain amount of time for your pet ONLY. Your dog/cat will be the only animal in my salon at this appointment. When you bring your dog into my grooming salon, he/she can run around and check out the place, realize that this is not the animal hospital (we all know what happens there most of time the pet has to go there! It smells strange and the animal gets a vaccine which might hurt). After your dog sniffed around and realizes that this is NOT the vet, the dog settles down and we can speak about its haircut. I listen carefully to your needs in order to keep up with the dog's groom. After carefully assessing the dog's behavior, it's coat and skin condition, we then can determine how long we keep the hair, what the face should look like and the length of the ears( dropped ears). You can choose a certain haircut or "look" from one of my grooming style books. You can see pictures how your pet looks afterwards.I pride myself to give your pet 100% of my attention during grooming session. I will not be interupted by phone calls. Therefore I have an answering machine and call back as son as I am finished. This gives me the time to concentrate fully on your dog or cat and work with it in order to finish its groom as fast as possible. I do not yell at your dog or treat your dog rough. My tender approach for cats also works very well for dogs.

How long is my pet being groomed?
A grooming sessions last from about 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the dog breed, size, coat condition and personality. Immediately after the grooming you can pick up you beloved pet.

Does it have to wait in a cage?
I do not have holding cages where your dog or cat sits and waits its turn to be attended to. The wait, the other barking and nervous pets only add unnecessary stress to your beloved pet. In my salon your pet is looking forward to get cleaned up and pampered. After the grooming while waiting for the owner to come and pick up the pet I also give sometimes a little playtime. Your pet is rewarded for good behavior with a healthy doggy treat (Buddy biscuit).

Do you groom my pet from start to finish? Yes.

Do you have more people working on my pet? No.

Do you offer tooth brushing for my pet? Yes.

Do you express anal glands? No.
This is a veterinarian service and should only be provided by a licensed vet or technician. Anal glands are very sensitive objects that can be irretated very bad when expressed all the time. If there is a problem that the dog does not express it's glands automatically you need to see the vet in order to have the problem diagnosed and treated.

What can I do to ensure my pet likes the grooming session?
First I always suggest not to feed your dog breakfast and if possible only feed a small dinner before the grooming day, walk him to pee and poop before the grooming appointment. If the dog has a full belly he is likely to be nervous and will move more on the table then when having an empty intestinal tract and no urge to have 'to go'. If your dog poopes or pees there will be a clean up fee in the amount of 5.00$. Why is there a clean-up fee? Because I have to stop what I am doing in order to clean up and desinfect the area your dog had the 'accident'.
When you leave your dog for the grooming and we have discussed its haircut etc. just leave without making a big scene. This way your dog does not feel abondend and he quick will turn to me the groomer and work with me. When returning to my salon and you see your dog still on my table (which only happens on occasion) please hide for a second so I can finish the last touches . As soon as the dogs see their owner they get very excited and want to leave.

What is a puppy groom?
When your puppy is about 2-3 months old it should have received all the vaccines then it is a good time to bring the puppy for the first time to the groomer. In my salon the puppy has the freedom to inspect all and run around to get familiar with the salon and its smells. Slowly I introduce your puppy to the tools and equipment necessary for the groom. I will bath the puppy and blowdry very slowly and quiet. The ears are being cleaned and if the puppy permits it, also the hair removed.

What equipment and products do you use?
I have an electric grooming table which moves up and down very smooth and does not frighten your dog. I also have a safety harness system to keep your dog from jumping of the table and injure himself. For the older dogs who have trouble standing for a longer period of time I provide hip support.

here you can see my "lipsystem" which holds securely and comfortable your dog on the table and prevents it from jumping or stepping off. This support system also helps your older pet to comfortably stand during the grooming session due to the hip support.

My clippers are new and top of the line and very quiet yet powerful in order to cut fast and safe thru the coat. All blades, combs and brushes are disinfected with veterinarian strength desinfectant after each animal. So is my table. My blow dryers are quiet and non heated air dryers. That means it is very safe for your pet. I do not cage dry but hand dry each animal. The risk with cage drying is that the animal is put wet in the cage and the dryer is turned on. Most of the time the pet is left alone while drying. With this method your pet can easily overheat and this can be fatal. My shampoos are the best on the market and are all natural. No harsh soaps or even chemicals. For each hair type and skin condition I have the correct shampoo and conditioner. You also can bring your prescribed medicated shampoo for the pet. I offer color enhancing shampoos which make your black, white, red or cream animal look much more vibrant. These shampoos contain natural enzymes which break down protein stains, like the yellowish tarnish on whites or a reddish tarnish on black animals. With my new pet bathing systems your pets receives a mini massage with every shampoo. It is an invigorating hydro massage system that also relieves achy joints and muscle. I offer a deep hydro massage for all pets for an additional 15$ for 15 minutes. Spoil your cat or dog with a spa treatment and get a relaxed pet back.

What is all included in a grooming session for dogs or cats?
The full groom for dogs includes: nail trimming, cleaning and plugging ears, haircut, shampoo & conditioner, hydro massage, hand blow dry and a finishing scissor cut.
My standard grooming service includes:
A manicure and pedicure (trimming the nails), ear cleaning and attending to the eyes. Your pet will get at least 1-2 shampoos depending on the coat and skin condition. Not only removing dander, dust, dirt and grease from your pet's hair, but also replenishing the sensitive skin with moisture for a healthy hair growth. While bathing, I give massages to the pet's back, neck, throat and feet to improve the skin and its blood flow. My shampoos are top of the line - no harsh soaps or chemicals or bleaches! After bathing, your 4-legged companion is being blow dried and brushed simultaneously. This ensures that even the last stubborn dead hairs are removed and I can examine the skin inch by inch. This procedure enables me also to see changes in your pet's skin which might require a visit to the veterinarian, so that it can be taken care of before it becomes irritating or dangerous for your pet. All dogs receive a finished scissor cut at all grooms. All animals receive a free bow or bandana according to the season of the year.

Click on the picture to see our assortment of bows, ties, hats.....

We also offer little hats and ties for all occasions.
Why are some groomers more expensive?
The price is depending on the skill level of the groomer (can she scissor, does she know breed cuts etc.), the set up of the grooming salon. When you enter a grooming salon it should be neat and clean, smell good and inviting and be quiet and soothing to your pet. If you have a funny feeling about a salon after entering, leave! Your gut feeling tells you the right thing. The groomer should be certified and update her/his education regularly. You should see the awards displayed in the grooming salon just the same as in a doctor's office! High quality tools and equipment are more desirable verses worn tables, old and dull blades and scissors. It also depends on the attention given to your beloved pet. Last but not least top notch equipment and tools are expensive. What kind of service is provided? Does the groomer provide and individual caring service to your pet? Does she work by appointments only? Or do you have to drop of your pet in the morning and somewhen in the afternoon you can pick it up after spending hours in a cage? The cheaper groomers often use short cuts in grooms. I see for example many dogs who have been in a cheaper place where the ears are not plugged! Plugging ears is a time consuming and sometimes difficult technique. If the hair which grow in the ear canal are not removed your dog is prone to get an ear infection sooner or later because the ear does not get the air to dry and the hair do not let the ear wax travel to the outside.

Here you can see a dog ears before cleaning & hair removal on the left and properly cleaned & plugged on the right

Did you ever realize that your dog has nicks and little cuts or skin abrasions? This is mostly caused by dull blades, dirty blades, unskilled shaving technique. Sometimes little cuts happen when the dog is not cooperating and moving a lot. The maintenance of my equipment is expensive and time consuming. So is safety in the salon for the animal as well as the groomer. All these things end up to costs money and reflect on the price for the groom.

New! "Hydro Surge Massage Therapie"

Movie: washing the dog

Spoil your pet by letting it have a therapeutic massage with our new pet bathing system that combines an invigorating hydro massage with deep cleansing action to turn your pet's bath time into a relaxing, spa experience. The bathing systems mixes shampoo into a high volume, high pressure water flow that penetrates deeply into the coat, lifting dirt and loose hair. While being shampooed, your pet will receive a mini massage. Your pet is more relaxed during bathing because the water stream gently massages muscles while it cleans at the same time. Your pet is noticeable cleaner because the water stream lifts up dirt and grease on the hair and skin. No more fingers rubbing on your pets skin and digging into its side.

....WOW!.....I was THAT dirty????.....

The Hydro massage is also very helpful for the older pets with aching joints and muscles. After a longer massage therapy your pet will move easier and with less pain. The massage therapy also lifts your pets spirits. Kind of when you get a nice full body massage....remember that warm relaxing and uplifting feeling? I am sure you do and now I offer this hydro massage to your pet.

Are you finished with the massage already.....?

In the tranquility of my quiet neat and clean grooming salon is no stress for cats or dogs because I groom by appointment only. This means that your cat or dog is brought to me and with expediency the animal will be completed and returned home. Your pet is not sitting in the kennel all day long and being stressed by other animals and noise.

New shampoos and conditioners

Color enhancing shampoos
E-Z Groom products have the only effective formula in color enhancing pet shampoo technology. This shampoo uses the properties of natural enzymes and powerful optical brighteners, in a Palm and Coconut base of cleansing agents, to produce a brilliant white, beautiful black, lustrous golden and deep red coats. The natural enzyme sin these shampoos digest protein based stains caused by urine, tears, saliva, blood, grass and other organic soil and remove the soil with the rinse water. A blend of botanical extracts stimulates, strengthens the coat. The enzyme shampoo is applied after your pet received it's first deep cleansing shampoo and it has to work on the coat for about 6-8minutes. Ask at your next visit about this great shampoo. Your pet will look so much better!

Sunscreen shampoo with UV-A and UV-B Protection:
The sunscreen shampoo helps keep your pet's hair healthy, shiny and full of color even after exposure to the harsh rays of sun. While most sunscreens are skin care products, this protectant is made specifically for hair. Its patented technology activates the sun protection properties after shampooing and rinsing unlike skin sunscreens that lose all effectiveness when rinsed off. And while conditioners merely mask the effects of sun damage, this revolutionary product actually prevents rough hair surfaces, color fading and breakage.
The sunscreen shampoo does not only protect your pet's hair but also the sensitive skin from UV-A and UV-B rays that cause skin cancer in your pet. Protect your pet from skin cancer with the sunscreen shampoo.
We also provide flea shampoo and shampoos for different skin conditions. If your pet has fleas I recommend to see your vet first and receive cap star treatment that kills fleas on contact and THEN come in for a flea shampoo that will take care of the rest. As a general rule apply flea treatment as soon as the temperatures reached about 15 degree Celsius for a few days.

ALL THE PRODUCTS USED IN MY SALON ARE TESTED AND BEING USED ON MY PRICE WINNING SHOW CATS. WHAT IS GOOD FOR MY CATS IS GOOD FOR YOU PET.

  11. CAT GROOMING

The full groom for cats includes: nail trimming, cleaning eyes & ears, either a lion cut or for full coated breeds brushing, shampoo & conditioner, hydro massage, hand blow dry and brushing at the same time to eliminate all dead hair. For cats I do require the proof of rabies vaccination Did you ever wonder what would happen if you bring your Cat to one of the Grooming Salons where they groom dogs and cats in the same room?

You are right! Your beloved feline would be scared to death, because of the unknown people, the noise and of course the scent of dogs! All of these reasons make it very difficult for a dog groomer to handle your cat and that is why dog groomers hesitate to take them on. Grooming a cat is a very demanding job. As a competitor in cat shows I have to groom my white Turkish Angora cats meticulously.

Here you can see the big difference when you bring your cat to me.

You will pick up a beauty after my spa treatment.

This little kitty was found in a junk yard and brought to me for cleaning up and the people wanted to find a place for her. After my grooming treatment they fell in love with her and kept her! What a success story!

Dear pet owner:

Bathing and grooming a cat is not an easy task and most of the cat owners are not even able to brush their cat on a regular basis. Also dog groomers have a hard time grooming cats, because it is very time consuming and totally different from grooming a dog. That's why dog groomers prefer not to take on a cat...except me!

Now your cat grooming worries are over, because you have a CAT & DOG GROOMER just around the corner! I praise myself to be very good with the scissors. My eye for detail and perfectionism is the basis of my grooming style. Each animal is given the full attention - as well as the owner - lots of loving tender care and the best products on the market. I do not cage dry the dogs and cats but hand dry each animal and give breed specific haircuts to the dog as well as shaves.

Now YOU can spoil your pet in my grooming salon where the pets are pampered.

In my grooming salon I only attend one animal at a time!
No other pets are waiting and upsetting each other. I have reduced the stress on the beloved pets to a minimum!
No loud noises, no food smells, and most importantly, no noisy blow dryers. I am the only person to groom your pet from start to finish

Most people would acknowledge that there is a big difference between a long life, and a long healthy life. This applies to cats & dogs as well. Many factors can contribute to unhealthy conditions in your cat and it would be wise to consider them seriously.

Did you know that...

MATS:
Mats hurt. Mats can pull the skin terribly. They do not just pull the hair, they pull it out at the root one hair at a time. They not only rub the skin raw, they pull it taut until it feels like it will split. Mats are unsanitary, uncomfortable and a constant source of stress, because they can actually inhibit the movement of the cat's limbs. No air can reach under the mat and the cat can not wash itself there, so it may suffer from itching, irritation, redness and dandruff in these areas. Do not pet your cat on the mats. The less you touch them the better. Arrange to have the mats removed as soon as possible.

CLAWS:
Indoor cats should have their claws trimmed every two to three weeks. Not only may your cat inadvertently injure you or other cats in your home, but also claw and cuticle problems can make your cat limp, hesitant to walk or jump, or spend inordinate amounts of time licking or biting at the claws and cuticles. Claws can become imbedded in toe pads or pick up thread and other fibers from furniture, clothing or rugs causing, real health problems like swelling, redness, oozing or infection of the cuticle and toe pad.

TEETH:
Gum (periodontal) disease is one of the most common problems seen by veterinarians today. It is known as the "silent disease" because of its slow progressive nature. Besides bad breath, gum disease can lead to the loss of appetite, weight loss, serious generalized infections and even heart and kidney disease. The problem begins when plaque and tartar are allowed to build up on the teeth. Plaque harbors the bacteria that can lead to infection.

BATHING:
Indoor cats need to be bathed just as humans do. You would be quite hesitant about licking the residue of life off your skin everyday... but your cat has no choice. Your reluctance to bathe your cat is probably a holdover from the days when people worried that bathing would give the cat a cold or that all natural oils would be washed out of the coat. None of this is true. The oils return to the coat in 24 hours and the coat actually improves with each bathing. All the loose dead hair is gone and the new growth is free to develop. Bathing can be done as often as necessary. If your cat lived in the woods and fields of the outside world instead of your home, every morning it would have its coat wet down by the morning dew and if you lived outdoors with your cat, it would be you that would not be able to shower and bathe every day for lack of facilities. I recommend that an indoor cat be bathed at least every four weeks, regardless of it being a longhair or a shorthair cat. The same applies to the dogs. Nail trimming is very important and to bath your dog should be done every 2 months including a nice trimm or haircut.

Overweight:
A cat that is only 10% overweight for its size faces a 33% greater mortality rate. A cat that is 20% overweight faces a 50% greater mortality rate. Obesity can be painful for your cat. It can also cause sluggishness, poor circulation and a high risk of diabetes. Food - either poor quality or just too much of the good stuff - causes 80% of dandruff problems in cats.

We are looking forward to our bath because our groomer is sooooo gentle and we always get a treat afterwards!

My recommendation is to bathe your indoor cat every 2-3 months no matter whether it is longhair or shorthair and and your dog also every 2-3 months. With bathing I remove all the dead hair to give room for the new growth to develop. I groom your cat with devotion and TLC - tender loving care. Each cat is attended to individually by me - no other cats are around to create disturbance. My grooming tools are not scary or noisy. My blow dryer is a "whisper quiet" one. Your animal will not be forced or restrained! I take all the time your furry companion needs to be groomed. If your pet does not like his/her nails trimmed right now I clean the ears first. I work with your pet and not against it. This results in a happy pet. No hiding after the grooming session or being upset with you the owner.
